The pure exhilaration of John Jeffers' solo on 'Bury My Bones' is driven as much by the band as the guitar itself, while the breakdown on 'John Wayne' is unleashed in glorious synchronisation as the band danced together with the crowd. It also can't be understated how much they can shred - and boy don't they know it. Nevertheless, the horn section sound huge, really driving home the dirtiness of their sound. It's particularly felt on the momentous drop on 'Glitter Ain't Gold', despite the band recovering it with the suspenseful build of the climax. It is about their lives growing up in rural East Texas along the east or west coast and was written by John Jeffers, Leroy Powell, Cody Tate, Gary Brown, and Cody Cannon. And I know she’s been listening to it on her favorites list on Spotify. Ballad of a Southern Man is by far the most streamed Whiskey Myers Song and what made them known to the world. She heard this song, I think, on The Highway on SiriusXM. So it's disappointing then that the sharpness of the sound is lost in the thick mix on the Elkhorn stage - it's so dense, there are points when it sadly falls flat.
